Cremation Beads - FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How much ash should I send, and how should I send it?
Send only one teaspoon of ashes. I suggest putting the ashes into zippable sandwich style baggies, and double bagging them. Please write your name on the baggie in permanent marker. Squeeze as much air out as you can, and put them inside a bubble mailer for added protection. DO NOT send ashes in a plain envelope!
If you will be sending multiple sets of ash, also write the deceased's names on the bags. There is a $10 handling fee for each set beyond the first, payable in the 'Extras' section.
Let me know if I should hold on to the remaining ash for a future order by writing KEEP on the upper corner of the baggie.
Where do I send the ashes?

How long will it take to make my order?
Average turnaround time is less than a month. Rush orders are available by request.
How much is shipping and handling?
I charge a flat rate of twenty dollars for the shipping and handling of the ashes.
Can I order a necklace with a pendant?
Yes, if you order any pendant, you can request the pendant added to a necklace, and I will even out the beads by putting an extra in. Feel free to order (by email vonbeads@gmail.com) custom jewelry with whatever options you would like, and I will get you a quote.
Can you write names on the glass, or initials?
Yes. I have a titanium pen and can write on the glass. It's a dollar a letter, and you purchase it in the 'Extras' section. I write letters on the side of the beads, near the hole, and you have to look to see them. They are small, shiny letters.
Can I choose custom colors?
Yes. Colors are changing for the better all the time! Feel free to request any color, and I will get as close as I can.
What exactly do you do with the ashes?
I dip molten glass into the ash, and then encase it completely after I've prepared it. The encased ash is used as part of the design in many different ways. It usually becomes a wispy white, and sometimes has tiny bubbles coming from it. I use a wide variety of designs to achieve many different looks. The results are often incredible, especially when combined with the right kinds of glass.
Can I order glass without any ashes?
Yes. Cremation glass is my specialty, but I also make non-cremation glass art, which you can order at VaughnEvans.com.
Can you make glass with hair?
Yes. It doesn't show up like the ashes do, but I can definitely use hair instead of ash.
Do you take special requests?
Yes, email Vaughn at vonbeads@gmail.com to ask for a quote.
